Superintendent asks for investigation into Maricopa charter school’s testing

In a letter to Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich, state superintendent Diane Douglas asks the state’s top law enforcement agency to look into Maricopa charter Holsteiner Agricultural School’s test scores.

“The investigation identified irregularities in specific test records for the 2014 Arizona’s Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS),” the letter states.

Holsteiner raised eyebrows last summer when it seemingly raised a “D” grade in the state’s letter grade ranking in 2013 to an “A” grade. Last July, the Arizona Department of Education withheld a letter grade for Holsteiner due to concerns about erasures seen on test sheets and the dramatic jump in letter grade at first glance.
