The 2015 Prescott mayoral race got off to a heated start Tuesday, June 9, when the Prescott City Council took on the issue of political signs in the public rights-of-way.
At issue was whether a 2012 city ordinance and resolution too stringently restricts where candidates can place their campaign signs along city streets.
A law firm representing mayoral candidate Dan Fraijo’s campaign maintains that the city is in violation of a 2012 state law, which barred cities, towns, and counties from removing signs that are placed on the public land along city thoroughfares.
