Florence Council appointing new town attorney and separating from current town manager

On Tuesday, the Florence Town Council is slated to enter into discussions and approve or disapprove to enter into an employment agreement with Clifford L. Mattice for the position of town attorney.

Currently, Clifford L. Mattice is a member of Dickinson Wright PLLC; his practice covers all aspects of municipal law, zoning, land use, open meeting law, public records and government entitlements. He has extensive experience with municipal zoning and subdivision regulations, development agreements and communication with elected and appointed officials in the development entitlement process. He worked with members of senior management, city employees and the Tempe City Council as the then-deputy city attorney and as an assistant city attorney.

He has worked with planning departments, building code officials, city councils, planning commissions, boards of adjustment, regulatory and advisory boards, neighborhood groups and the development community.

Additionally, the town is slated to enter into discussions about a separation agreement with Town Manager Charles Montoya. An interim will be appointed. At the time of press, further details were not known.
