Former Mesa Vice Mayor Pat Gilbert seeks council seat

Former Mesa City Councilman and Vice Mayor Pat Gilbert will soon be back on the campaign trail.

The 64-year-old attorney is the second candidate to make a bid for the city’s District 1 Council seat, which the term-limited Dave Richins will vacate in January 2017.

Gilbert filed paperwork to run Wednesday morning, according to city records, about a week after retired Mesa firefighter Mark Freeman announced his candidacy.
