Former Phoenix mayor clarifies support for preservation, but not commercialization of Wright House

Former Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon is suggesting bringing in a mediator or arbitrator as a possible option to settle the contentious David Wright House fight in Arcadia. Gordon is also clarifying his position on the issue involving a Frank Lloyd Wright-designed home near Camelback Road and 54th Street.

Gordon is taking the steps after appearing in an advertisement for Zach Rawling’s David & Gladys Wright House Foundation.

Rawling bought the Frank Lloyd Wright designed home in 2012 after it faced demolition.

But he is in a battle with some Arcadia neighbors over his plans to host events and build an events center at the property just south of Camelback Mountain in a wealthy Phoenix enclave.
