[OP-ED] Glendale-Peoria Bell Road billboard fight likely not over

The Glendale City Council voted 5-2 not to allow billboards in Peoria’s backyard. I wish it was so simple.

For anyone who has been following the drama the past two years with Mark Becker and his request to Glendale to change its planning ordinance to allow two 85-foot digital billboards, you know he may try again. He has gone to the Glendale Planning Commission two times and each request was unanimously rejected.

For a second time, on June 23, the Glendale City Council listened to its residents, and many engaged Peoria residents, and told Becker Boards that billboards will not be allowed at Bell Road, just west of the Loop 101.
