Payment to state rankles Coolidge Council

When there’s one hit after another, sometimes even the minor blows can feel like a knockout.

That’s the sentiment the Coolidge City Council has started to express when it comes to the state legislature’s policies when it comes to local jurisdictions. The latest measure the city has had to approve is a payment to the Arizona Department of Revenue in the amount of $25,684, which will pay for the department’s processing of the city sales tax.

The DOR has not required this payment in the past, something Coolidge Finance Director Lisa Pannella said she was surprised to learn when she came here, as it is a service that costs money.
