Ritz-Carlton Phoenix closing doors, re-opening as The Camby Hotel

Ritz-CarltonOn July 24, Ritz-Carton Phoenix will close its doors and let go of nearly 200 employees. Originally opened in 1988, the 181-room Ritz will undergo renovations and reopen in December or January as The Camby Hotel.

Carrie Drost, spokeswoman for Destination Hotels & Resorts, told the Arizona Republic the property will be repositioned as an “independent lifestyle” hotel and be part of Marriott Autograph Collection.

Destination manages the Royal Palms Resort & Spa in Phoenix, Tempe Mission Palms and Scottsdale Resort & Conference Center as well as other properties throughout the U.S. and internationally.

Employees being let go are being offered positions at other properties and potentially at The Camby when the doors reopen.
