$6M project will upgrade town’s low-rent housing

Major renovations on three affordable housing complexes in Florence could begin by late fall or early winter.
In addition to receiving newly-renovated and more energy-efficient apartments, residents will receive services such as after-school educational support, computer and job training and preventative health care.
Cordes Development of Aurora, Colorado, learned June 30 that its application to the Arizona Department of Housing (ADOH) for low income housing tax credits was successful, which makes the almost $6 million project possible.
The project will cover Florence Heights Apartments and Western Sunrise Villas off Florence Heights Drive, and Widdowfield Manor off Butte Avenue — 58 apartments in all. The developer will rename them all Florence Sunrise Apartments.
