Developers of a project that will bring 158 new apartments to downtown Chandler will be allowed to delay paying property taxes on the site, under terms of an agreement reached with the city.
The development agreement, approved by the city council at its July 6 meeting, will allow the developer, DC Land, LLC, to take advantage of state laws designed to encourage redevelopment of older areas of cities, such as Chandler’s downtown.
The proposed apartment complex, called DC Heights, would be built on land on the western edge of downtown in an area bordered by Essex Street on the west and California Street on the east, north to Commonwealth Avenue and south to Boston Street.
Plans call for two buildings with heights ranging from two to four stories, with studios, one- and two-bedroom units.
