State Rep. Victoria Steele announced Tuesday that she is running for Congress in one of the most competitive U.S. House districts in the country, hoping to unseat U.S. Rep. Martha McSally, R-Ariz.
Steele is the first Democrat to jump into the race for southern Arizona’s 2nd District, though others are considering it.
Former Rep. Ron Barber said he would not seek a rematch with McSally. Their contests in 2012 and 2014 were so close that election officials had to conduct recounts.
