Veteran Pima County sheriff retiring

Pima County has sent a letter of resignation to the Board of Supervisors, which it plans to accept at Tuesday’s meeting.

Dupnik, who has served as sheriff since 1980, notified the board earlier this year of his plans to retire.

“After 57 years in law enforcement, it is time for me to pass this role to the next generation,” Dupnik wrote in a June 23 letter to the board.
