City progress, Glendale Vice Mayor pushes sales tax reduction

Vice Mayor Ian Hugh asked city staff to find ways to reduce the sales tax rate when Glendale City Council met last week and held it first regular workshop in over two months.

“I’ve kind of been thinking about how things are improving in Glendale,” he said.

The sales tax the city collected in Westgate has increased from $7.40 million in 2012-13 to $9.07 million in 2013-14 and $10.72 million in 2014-15, according to a July 17 memorandum to members of the council.
