The owner of a Phoenix home designed by famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright in the 1950s has named architects for renovation work and will soon put in a request to the city of Phoenix for a special permit to allow for some events to be held at the property just south of Camelback Mountain.
The latter proposal has stirred some neighborhood opposition in the affluent Arcadia neighborhood where Wright designed the concrete home for his son, David, and daughter-in-law, Gladys.
Phoenix City Councilman Sal DiCiccio opposes David Wright House owner Zach Rawling’s plans to host field trips, weddings and other events at the residential property. DiCiccio also is confident he has the votes on the Phoenix City Council to block a permit request for events.
