On a vacation trip out West, the founder of a non-profit veterans’ housing program headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, drove east on Route 66 through Seligman to Ash Fork.
J.D. Simpson of Three Hots and a Cot spotted a 41-acre parcel of land for sale. Right then, the disabled U.S. Navy veteran had an epiphany: this was the ideal place for a veterans’ supportive housing village.
So he and his son, Darren, bought the land they intend to donate to the project.
He dubbed his brainchild, “A home for America’s heroes on America’s highway – Fort Comfort Veterans Village.”
