Bisbee the first Arizona city to approve assisted suicide

The City Council voted 4-3 this week in favor of what many call “death with dignity.”

Resolutions are not binding nor do they change state law.

Deliberately helping someone to commit suicide is a felony in Arizona.

Bisbee’s resolution asks the Cochise County Attorney Brian McIntyre to “de-prioritize” prosecuting anyone involved in an assisted suicide where the patient has a terminal illness, is of sound mind and has fewer than six months to live.
