[EDITORIAL] Getting a grip on football

“Deflategate” always sounded so childish: Did the star quarterback know that air had been secretly leaked from footballs he was throwing to help him win a big game? There’s still no firm answer to that question after an exhaustive court fight. But here comes the National Football League season nevertheless, and there is the star quarterback, Tom Brady, free to throw footballs again for the New England Patriots, having prevailed last week against an attempt by the league commissioner, Roger Goodell, to suspend him for four games.
