Guadalupe mayor Rebecca Jimenez sentenced in alleged food stamp fraud case

A Guadalupe resident plans to file recall paperwork against Mayor Rebecca Jimenez if she fails to resign after she was sentenced in connection with a case of alleged food stamp fraud.

“She’s a disgrace to the Town,” Saturnino Flores said.

Flores, a lifelong Guadalupe resident, doubts that Jimenez will resign; Flores plans to file recall paperwork against her as early as Monday.

Jimenez was elected as mayor of the 6,000-person town in 2013. Guadalupe is approximately three miles southwest of downtown Tempe.
