‘Hurtful’ revenge ads with Former Governor Brewer deleted from Web site

The “revenge makeover” ads featuring former Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer have been taken down and “paused,” two advertising network companies said Thursday, following an Arizona Republic story about the ads.

Brewer threatened to take legal action against the Web companies, which used unflattering photos of her to promote anti-aging products and plastic surgery, while suggesting her husband left her because of her appearance. The tightly cropped photos of Brewer appear along the edges of Web pages in content known as “native ads,” with text reading, “Divorced for being too old, see her revenge makeover.”
