Industrial commission members, top staffer resign after per diem flap

Two members of the Industrial Commission of Arizona who were recently outed as having requested excessive amounts of per diem reimbursements have resigned their positions, as has the agency’s executive director.

Commission Chairman David Parker (left in photo), Vice Chairman Michael Sanders (right in photo) and Executive Director Laura McGrory submitted their letters of resignation to Gov. Doug Ducey’s office on Tuesday.

In an email to Henry Darwin, Ducey’s chief of operations, Sanders wrote that he was stepping down for “personal reasons.” Parker wrote to the governor that “it is time to step back and let someone else continue the good work of the commission.”
