Peoria offers new reuse program at P83

Peoria is implementing a financial incentive program to encourage more diverse businesses to set up shop in vacant buildings located at the P83 Entertainment District, between Bell Road and Skunk Creek, and from 75th Avenue to the Loop 101. p83

The City Council recently adopted the P83 Building Reuse Program, which aims to revitalize the area with more professional offices, entertainment and retail uses to counter the practice of adding restaurants, which staff says have a historical failure rate in the District.

The program’s “public benefits include targeted industry attraction, job creation, converting empty commercial space into occupied buildings, and increased private investment in the P83 District,” according to Scott Whyte, city economic development director.
