Residents of three area neighborhoods flooded Prescott City Hall this week with a unified message: Retain Prescott’s small-town atmosphere.
Nearly 150 people from the Pinon Oaks, Williamson Valley Estates, and Longview neighborhoods turned out for the Prescott Planning and Zoning Commission meeting Thursday, Sept. 10, filling all of the seats in the council chambers and spilling out into the hallway.
More than a dozen of the residents went to the podium to object to the proposed annexation of two parcels of open Deep Well ranchland totaling about 1,625 acres northeast of Prescott. In addition, the city had earlier received 142 written protests to the annexation and related rezoning, and several dozen more reportedly were collected during the meeting.
