For decades the Mountain Shadows Resort was a vital part of Paradise Valley. Then, after it closed it became the community’s biggest frustration. Well, it’s now roaring back to life.
You’ve probably seen the construction underway for the residences at The Village at Mountain Shadows on the east side of 56th Street along Lincoln.
On Saturday morning from 7a-10a we are going to celebrate not only this progress but the onset of construction for the new hotel. It will be owned by the same people behind the Sanctuary Resort. Click here to download the invitation.
And through it all runs 56th Street. Once one of the worst looking streets in town it’s now one of the best. Identified to be an “iconic” road in our voter-approved General Plan it’s certainly that.
One of the most basic functions of government is building and repairing roads. Our Public Works Department does a great job in this regard.
On Saturday morning from 7a-10a you can see it for yourself. The 56th Street Festival will connect El Chorro to what’s going on at Mountain Shadows all the way up 56th Street to the Sanctuary Resort. The road will be closed to vehicular traffic so you can walk or bike it and enjoy food trucks, music, exotic McLaren cars, fire trucks and even beautiful horses from the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show.
I will be leading a dedication ceremony at 8a. I hope you can make it then, before and after.
Many people worked very hard to turn a property and road that was a big eyesore into a point of pride. Come enjoy it with your family, friends, neighbors and fellow residents Saturday morning.
I hope to see you there.
Yours in service,
