Excitement brews over IndyCar’s return to PIR

Those who remember IndyCar racing at Phoenix International Raceway are thrilled to see it return. Those who don’t remember are thrilled, too, mainly because they’ve heard the tales from those who do.

Turns out, a decade is more than enough time to start missing something.

The Verizon IndyCar series will be back at PIR next year for the first time since 2005, starting with the Phoenix Grand Prix on April 2, 2016, with the official announcement of a multi-year partnership between the entities being made Tuesday during a news conference at the Capital Grille restaurant in Phoenix.
