The Peoria City Charter, the document that defines the organization, powers, functions and essential procedures of Peoria, would undergo review for the first time in 24 years — although the form of government would not change — under a proposal by Mayor Cathy Carlat.
“Given the extended period of time since a comprehensive review, I am proposing that the council establish an ad hoc committee charged with reviewing the City Charter and recommending amendments, if any,” Carlat wrote in an Oct. 12 memo asking the city council to consider the issue at its Oct. 20 meeting.
