Some with red flags still earned promotions under Babeu

Officials decided Andrew Wikstrom’s behavior as a deputy had brought discredit to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office. He paid for it with his job, and perhaps, his career.

Wikstrom’s firing by Sheriff Paul Babeu was upheld by a 3-1 vote of the Pinal County Law Enforcement Merit Commission on Sept. 17. It was the second time Wikstrom had been fired by Babeu, although the first termination was overturned by the merit commission.
