A Pinal County economic official said the dispute between Eloy and Coolidge that led to a proposed egg farm operation being killed shows that the process works.
“If a city or town files a concern and says something might not work, ethically, we have to report that to the client,” said Tim Kanavel, Pinal County economic development manager. “We don’t want projects in this county that people don’t want.”
Eloy officials objected when they learned of Coolidge’s interest in bringing a major egg production company to the site of its projected “inland port.” The site would have been less than a mile from Eloy’s city limits, east of State Route 87 and north of Houser Road.
