From Ohio to Phoenix without leaving the house

By Phil Riske, managing editor

For the past seven years, I have flown at least 30 different airplanes to places all over the world via a computer flight simulator called X-Plane. The program is similar to one certified by the Federal Aviation Administration used to  train pilots. It recreates real weather conditions, radio communications, scenery and accurate flight controls.

I’ve put together a series of screen photos of a flight I made Sunday in a Beechcraft 1900 from Columbus, Ohio to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, where I landed in a rainstorm.

Enjoy.
