Nearly every participant at the Yavapai County Mayors, Managers, Supervisors, Tribe and Nation Meeting on Nov. 5 joined in expressing their wish to state legislators for reinstating the Highway User Revenue Fund (HURF) to counties and cities in its entirety.
County Supervisor Tom Thurman began the meeting with an overview of the County Supervisors Association’s (CSA) legislative policy items that counties across Arizona set as priorities at its October Summit. Among other items, Thurman said restoring the transportation revenues is necessary not only to keep the roads from falling apart, but to entice new businesses. At the same time, he said, he doesn’t want to raise taxes on gasoline, which haven’t been increased since the early 1990s.
