The Peoria City Council is expected to meet within several weeks to discuss plans for a 17-acre parcel just south and west of the Peoria Sports Complex now that a private developer’s proposal is dead.

Peoria Sports Park, LLC, managing partner Mike Oliver missed an Oct. 3 deadline to bring in tenants and financing for his proposed The Avenue Shoppes at P83, a mixed-use retail, restaurant and entertainment plan, and under terms of an amended agreement with the city, that automatically canceled Oliver’s project, although not necessarily the concept he was pursuing.
