Arizona Corporation Commissioner Bob Burns is prepared to deploy his subpoena powers if Arizona Public Service and its parent company, Pinnacle West, refuse to provide him with information about its electioneering spending last year.
A few days ago, Burns pressed Don Brandt, CEO and president of APS, for a report of all its spending on the 2014 elections.
“This is the first step in this process. If APS responds no, then the next step is to follow up with Pinnacle West,” Burns said. “If Pinnacle West declines to respond, the next step is to move forward with [a] subpoena.”
