For decades, the 27.5-acre parcel in the midst of Sun City’s phase II was barren; a stretch of dirt that was once home to a community garden and periodically eyed by developers interested in filling it with homes.
Now, the landscape is beginning to change.
Trenches, rebar and pipes criss-cross some of the dirt lots. Others are seeing dozens of 2-by-4 wood studs stand erect in square and rectangular patterns atop concrete slabs where frames are taking shape for a few of the 140 units that eventually will fill the area bounded by Sunland Drive, 110th Avenue and Sunland Memorial Park and Mortuary.
