During the Dec. 16 Queen Creek Town Council meeting, Mayor Gail Barney appointed Councilwoman Dawn Oliphant to serve a 12-month term as vice mayor beginning Jan. 1.
The motion passed on a 6-0 vote. Ms. Oliphant replaces Julia Wheatley, who has held the position since December 2014, according to a press release.
