Light rail: Initial Line was 12 years in the making
The first segment of Proposition 104 money will go for the South Central Avenue light rail extension in Phoenix.
The project cleared its first federal funding hurdle when it made the Federal Transit Administration Capital Investment Grant approval list. It’s one small step toward a train and a giant leap for the city’s $31.5 billion 35-year street, drainage, transit and light rail expansion program.
