Chandler new homes plan resurfaces after rejection

A developer again is attempting to win approval from Chandler to build nearly 130 single-family homes on land the city has designated as a commercial area.

The divided city council rejected a plan for the homes in March, with most members saying it would sacrifice land identified by the city for commercial buildings designed to draw jobs. Additional concerns were raised over placing homes close to the Chandler Municipal Airport, railroad tracks and a possible future extension of the Valley’s light-rail system along Arizona Avenue.
