NEWS RELEASE

CHANDLER, Ariz. – Chandler Acting City Manager Marsha Reed announced that Ryan Peters has been selected as the City’s new Intergovernmental Affairs Coordinator.

“We are excited to have Ryan aboard as the new Legislative session begins,” Mayor Jay Tibshraeny said. “This is a critical position within the City’s management team, and Ryan has the experience and background to represent Chandler in the wake of any proposed legislation that could potentially be harmful to our community’s best interests.”

Peters has more than 10 years of municipal public policy and state legislative experience. He comes to Chandler from the League of Arizona Cities and Towns, where he has served as a Legislative Associate for the past three years to represent all 91 cities and towns in Arizona.

Prior to that, he worked for the City of Glendale (2007 – 2012) and the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry (2005 – 2006) to represent them in public policy and legislative affairs. He also worked two years at the Arizona House of Representatives as a research analyst and leadership intern.

Peters has a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Arizona State University and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University as a double major in Political Science and Psychology.

He also served six years in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, including a deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He attained the rank of Sergeant and earned an Honorable Discharge for his years of service.

He will begin his new post in Chandler on Jan. 11, 2016.
