Florence seeks to make the town ‘livable’

Tom Rankin walked off the dais at the Monday town council meeting to address the council as a citizen in a public hearing he had just opened as mayor.

“It’s very important that we get this election passed to keep up the work we’re doing for the town,” Rankin said. “…Let’s get the word out so we have another successful election.”

As with last year’s special election, this year’s ballot, on May 17, will ask Florence voters to allow the town to spend $15 million above the state-imposed budget limit. The amount is what Florence will collect anyway without raising taxes.
