After years of discussion and months of planning, construction on a controversial bridge at Bell Road and U.S. 60/Grand Avenue finally is happening.
The construction is expected to last 14 months and will include a full closure of a half-mile swath of Bell Road for six to eight months.
The new bridge is expected to relieve traffic congestion near the intersection of Bell Road and Grand Avenue — the third busiest intersection in Maricopa County, according to Surprise officials.
