Eloy accuses Corporation Commission of empty promise regarding development area

City officials are filing a letter of objection to the Arizona Corporation Commission because it had given Arizona Water Company permission to develop an area, just outside Eloy’s city limits in their planning area, which the company has let languish for nearly a decade.

In 2006 the ACC granted Arizona Water Company, a utility that mainly serves Arizona City properties, the authority to provide water services to a 640-acre plot of land through a Certificate of Convenience and Necessity. This allows private utility services to serve those lands if they provide the infrastructure and satisfy the CC&N requirements.
