New healthcare complex could bring 1,500 jobs to Glendale

Work is set to get under way on a new $30 million health care complex that, when complete, is projected to bring as many as 1,500 new jobs to the city.

Dr. John Simon, founder of SimonMed Imaging, won final approval for Westgate Healthcare Campus off 99th and West Glendale avenues when the Glendale City Council signed off on required zoning changes Tuesday night.

“This is an awesome project. It carries the potential to attract quality, high-paying jobs and be a catalyst for further development in the area, which is primarily zoned for mixed use,” said Tabitha Perry, the city’s assistant planning director following the meeting.
