For months, it appeared Pinal County Attorney Lando Voyles could very well run unopposed in the 2016 election. That all changed when Casa Grande attorney Kent Volkmer made his candidacy official Friday morning by filing his statement of organization paperwork.
Volkmer will run as a Republican, giving Voyles a primary challenger.
Volkmer, 34, is from Ohio and received his law degree from the University of Akron. After finishing law school in 2007, he and his wife moved to Casa Grande, where they’ve lived ever since.
