9th Circuit rules Arizona ‘dreamers’ can keep driver’s licenses

Arizona must continue to issue driver’s licenses to young undocumented immigrants who receive deportation deferments, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Tuesday.

A three-judge panel agreed with a ruling by District Court Judge David G. Campbell.

In January 2015, Campbell issued a permanent injunction blocking an executive order by former Gov. Jan Brewer that barred the state from issuing driver’s licenses to undocumented immigrants granted federal work permits under President Barack Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, known as DACA.
