Former transportation secretary says Phoenix ‘a role model for US’ on transportation

Republicans used to be the party of building, according to former Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood.

“President (Dwight D.) Eisenhower envisioned and started building the U.S. interstate highway system with a Republican Congress,” said LaHood, who served as transportation secretary under President Obama, and is now co-chair of Building America’s Future.
