Neighbors call the Copenhaver Castle renovations a neighborhood eyesore and a nightmare for other Camelback homeowners.

Those familiar with the south side of Camelback Mountain recognize the stone castle high on its slope.
For years it was known as Copenhaver Castle, built by a dentist in 1967 to enjoy spectacular views of downtown Phoenix to the south. It grew dilapidated when he went bankrupt.
The property’s current owner and his efforts to restore the property have frustrated his neighbors and attracted the attention of Phoenix zoning inspectors.
