Rep. Matt Salmon introduced a bill to eliminate funding for further National Science Foundation (NSF) studies on politically induced stress as part of his newly reintroduced Shrink our Spending Initiative.
The National Science Foundation last year awarded a $149,000 grant for a researcher to better understand which facets of social interaction about politics are most stress-inducing, for which kinds of people, and in which contexts. A previous study by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation already released a wide-ranging survey on this topic.
