Arizona Corporation Commissioner Andy Tobin sat out on a vote April 12 because of a potential conflict of interest. But after that matter failed, Tobin now says he should have been able to vote and he wants an emergency meeting so the Commission can vote again.
Tobin’s son-in-law works for SolarCity as an inventory specialist, which the commission’s lawyers have identified as a substantial conflict of interest.
But Tobin has argued for months that his son-in-law’s job shouldn’t prevent him from voting on matters related to solar energy, one of the hottest topics at the Corp Comm. SolarCity typically intervenes in utility rate cases and other matters concerning solar.
