The town is dragging its feet in producing emails in the discovery process, possibly related to Florence’s treatment of current and former police officers who are alleging discrimination in federal court, the plaintiffs’ attorney says.
“But what we have gotten is tending to prove our case,” said Lynne Bernabei, attorney for Walt “Hondo” Hunter and Jarris Varnrobinson. She called failures by Florence police “astonishing. … I don’t think you’d see any other police department in America do something like this.”
Bernabei also said the town continues to harass Hunter, who remains a police officer. “You know, they never give up.”
