SRP might again consider Chandler routes for major power line

Salt River Project may place a major new power line closer to more Chandler neighborhoods after ongoing talks with the Gila River Indian Community failed to produce an agreement to build most of the line on tribal lands.

SRP officials told The Republic on Thursday that the utility has continued to talk with the tribal community in an effort to reach an agreement for the route after the Gila River Tribal Council voted last year against allowing the power line on reservation land south of Chandler. However, those talks have not yet produced an agreement on a route.
