Jeff DeWit will split time between Donald Trump’s campaign and his duties as state treasurer after the Republican presidential nominee named him as his campaign’s chief operating officer.
Trump announced DeWit’s new role with the campaign late Tuesday night. As COO, Trump said DeWit will manage the organizational and administrative operations for his campaign.
“I have known and worked with Jeff for a long time and he is an outstanding leader and individual who will make it possible … for us together to win this election and Make America Great Again,” Trump said in a press statement announcing DeWit’s position.
As the Trump campaign’s COO, DeWit’s duties will be national in scope and not restricted only to Arizona. But DeWit said he won’t resign and will stay on as state treasurer, which pays $70,000 a year, while he works for the campaign. He said his position is unpaid and described himself as a volunteer.
