Initiative to cap hospital executive pay files 281,000 signatures

Arizona voters will likely get to decide if top hospital executives should get a pay cut after a health care workers union filed signatures for a ballot measure today.

The Service Employees International Union-United Healthcare Workers West submitted 281,000 signatures to the Arizona Secretary of State’s office on Thursday in support of a measure capping hospital executive pay at the U.S. president’s salary, which is currently $450,000.

The measure needed roughly 150,000 signatures to qualify for the November ballot.
